Karrimor use waterproof, breathable membranes in its footwear to keep water from entering whilst allowing water vapour (sweat) to escape. Even while sitting still over eight hours, your feet will sweat the equivalent to a one-quarter cup of water. During even gentle exercise, this can be greatly increased. Wet feet blister, and feel cold and uncomfortable. The membranes Karrimor uses, allows water vapour to escape, leaving feet dry and comfortable.

Fit and last shape
The Karrimor last is generally recognised as a higher-volume last; which means the fit feels wider –- more akin to the British and European foot shape. Karrimor sells boots and shoes in full and half sizes to ensure a goods fit. Karrimor recommends wearing the boots around the house to ensure they fit well before wearing them outside.

Outsole
Karrimor use durable outsoles that provide high levels of grip. Karrimor uses Vibram outsoles on all its models, which are widely recognised as the market leader in outdoor footwear outsoles. Vibram outsoles can be replaced when they do finally wear out. Many of the Vibram outsoles used are exclusive designs Karrimor has developed with Vibram -– exclusive to Karrimor designs and last.

Comfort and Dry
The walking shoes are so comfortable and have already proved to keep my feet dry when I've been walking the dogs. Exactly what I wanted and great value too.
Karrimor Hiking Shoe
The shoes are light and comfortable. I have used them to take a regular walk over grass and tarmac (4 miles about 60% tarmac) around ten times since I bought them. They are, as I say, comfortable but the tread is wearing alarmingly. Perhaps a third of the tread in the main part of the sole (ball of the feet) has gone already. They were reduced price but at this rate they will have no trad left after six weeks use!
Perhaps walking on tarmac is the problem but this wear is surely not acceptable in a walking shoe!
